Statement

I make observational art of people in the world around me. Through traditional methods and with a contemporary mindset, I paint, print, and draw thoughtful figurative works and portraits.

My current work considers the relationships and underlying narratives that permeate all our lives. I am exploring how we perceive these narratives, either collectively or individually. What is the impact of the way we perceive them? Whether I use these themes in a strict sense or as an armature that supports my work, I am looking to better understand how we are all tied together.

BIO

Fred Graduated from the Art Academy of Cincinnati with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2003. After graduating Fred worked as a graphic designer and photographer. His interests in narrative art only grew and led him to work in film, where he wrote and directed many projects.

Fred began printmaking in 2017 after a trip to Eastern Europe where he saw many of the great master relief printmakers. It was through printmaking that he found the perfect medium for his narrative work, where he could blend design and fine arts. Many of his pieces utilize implied narratives that ask the viewer to complete the the story.
